Join me in the Journey

If you were to somehow take a peak into my mind you would see a web of constant random thoughts. I daydream, I worry, I think about how I could have played out a situation differently and wonder where my life will lead me in the future. Just like the hands of the clock my brain is in constant motion moving in circles trying to make sense of what is meant to be and what to make out of the life I've been given. I truly appreciate my "active" brain although, half the time I just wish that damn clock would take a rest (just a tiny break PLEASE silly brain) so that I can just let what is meant to be, be.

I am a true believer in the phrase "what's meant to be will be," and I am working diligently to really let that phrase sink in so that I can not only believe it but live by it. At times I feel like a scientist trying to experiment in concocting the perfect balance of being too lackadaisical in my actions and too aggressive and intense. I believe this balance is something that many strive for and often takes a lifetime to recognize. No one is perfect and this "balance" is something that may not be perfectly achieved but as long as we work to improve this balance with patience and a conscious effort, that's all that matters. The truth is that no matter how much planning and thinking we do in our lives, our life has already been paved by God and He is the only person that understands why things play out the way they do and why we make the decisions we chose. He wants us to be true to ourselves and live a life of honesty and love, for he knows that everyone gets off track at times losing sight of the precious path that he wrote out for us before we were brought into the world. However, as long as you learn from your missteps, He is forgiving and will direct us back to a life of fulfillment that he so passionately wants for everyone.

I invite you to join me in my journey to truly believing that patience, honesty and living a life of kindness is the characteristics that God intended you to carry in your heart which will lead you to a life that you had never dreamt was humanly possible. Put all your worries aside and focus only on the positive because worrying leads nowhere but to wasted time. Be the person you envision when you think of a "faithful loving person," and I am confident that your life will be led to a fulfilling peaceful place that no longer lives in a place of limbo and constant circles but rather, a smooth path that goes in a direction closer to your true authentic soul in which God had intended and created in you.

“Nothing happens, and nothing happens, and then everything happens” -Fay Weldon
Everything happens for a reason and a purpose, and it serves you.” -Anthony Robbins
“I believe that every single event in life happens in an opportunity to choose love over fear.”- Oprah
“Everything happens for a reason. Every action has a reaction. Always remember that whats meant to be will always find a way to come about.”
Biblical Verses
1.“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5)

2.Thus says the Lord, Your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.” (Isaiah 48:17)

3.“I will instruct you and teach you in the way should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (Psalm 32:8)

4.“For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.” (Psalm 48:14)

5.“The Lord will guide you continually …” (Isaiah 58:11)

Another way to look at this is that a step is one day in your life. What this means is that God now has each day of your life perfectly planned out for you to the day that you depart from this life. You are now on the yellow brick road with the yellow color now being the light of God Himself.

Your job is to now live each day to its fullest, always trying to do the best at whatever God will be calling you to do for Him on that particular day. If you can learn how to keep this kind of mindset, you will be less likely to throw pity parties when things do not go the way you think they should.

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

This may not be an area you feel you really need to focus on, in which case is great. If however, you can relate to this post please be conscious of this. Lead a life of less worry and more trust that you will be the amazing, talented, successful person that you are and will continue to be for a lifetime and beyond!

Sunday

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?" –Marianne Williamson

Dance first. Think Later. It's the natural order.

Wednesday

Colorful Kisses

It's no surprise that my dream one day is to own a paperie boutique which in modern day terms means a "stationer;" someone that specializes in designing cards, stationary, and invitations (birthday, wedding, etc.). I absolutely love making cards and find to to be both relaxing and refreshing to let my creative side run wild. Take a peek!
"To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart."

Cuckoo for Cupcakes

"You can't look at a cupcake without smiling"

I have an issue...It's name is cupcakes. Not only are they something I think about occassionally throughout the day but, anytime I enter a cupcake store it's as if I've entered Disneyland or won the Lotto, I feel an overwhelming sense of happiness. To me, there is no better dessert in the world than a cupcake. Sounds silly right?? Many may say, isn't it the same thing as cake? Yes, you are right friends but the fact that it's in a small portion makes me feel less guilty for devouring it! Cupcake stores are popping up everywhere ever since the Sprinkles Cupcake craze, and everyone sure did jump on the band wagon. There are even TV shows on the Food Network dedicated just for cupcakes,'Cupcake Wars' which is my favorite and makes my cupcake cravings even more painful. I love how beautiful cupcakes are; besides being heavenly tasting they are decorated as a piece of art. In fact, so beautifully decorated that it's not uncommon for me to use my camera phone to snap a pic before I stuff my face! Here are my top 3 cupcake stores around:
1. Sprinkles of course:) Favorite Flavor's: carrot cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting and lemon with vanilla frosting
2. Heavenly Cupcake in San Diego. Favorite Flavor's: red velvet with vanilla buttercream, lemon coconut with coconut buttercream, vanilla carmel with vanilla buttercream and carmel on top! yummy
3. Cupcake Squared in San Diego. Favorite Flavor's: cranberry white chocolate with vanilla buttercream and pumpkin pecan.

Football Fan??

It's approaching the football season and this typically is the time of year I dread because I lose my husband's attention. To say that Ryan is a football fan is an understatement, he lives for it and his mood completely changes as the season approaches. For Ryan's birthday his one wish was for me to learn football and watch the games with him...this sounded like a gift that just keeps on giving but I agreed mainly because this meant I didn't have to go shopping and get him something:) So, Ryan and I have been watching the preseason games and he has been patiently educating me on the rules which I ignored all my life. I will admit that I am still a bit confused but I'm slowly learning and it's fun to see Ryan so excited to have me watching the games with him.

I'm not nturally drawn to football so, Ryan suggested that we make it fun by incorporating something that I love, cooking! I made a whole schmorgesborg of food for a game a couple days ago and it did the trick, I had fun making the food and it made the game more exciting stuffing my face with high fat appetizers! This may have been a majorly smart trickery on Ryan's part as a way to get me to cook fro him during the games but I have been having fun and I never thought I'd say this but I'm actually looking forward to the Football season. I predict a lot of game parties at our place soon!

Wednesday

"Shut It Down"

Ryan hates the fact that I'm a fan or reality TV shows and I will admit that most of the one's I chose to watch are a big waste of time (Ochocinco & T.O. Show) however, the Rachel Zoe Project is one show that I can't live without, it's "banana's". The show is a docudrama series that follows celebrity stylist, Rachel Zoe, and her assistants as they conquer the fashion world. I am so excited that the season started again...especially without the big Debbie Downer assistant Taylor Jacobson who she fired leaving flamboyant style assistant, Brad Goreski, in her place!
She is so passionate about what she does and the show is fun because it shows you a behind the scene perspective of what happens in the fashion industry. She is a big ball of stress and I worry that she is going to have a heart attack when she complains of chest pains at almost every episode (no good) but she also mixes it up with good humor and has great chemistry with her assistants. Rachel is known for her "Zoe-isms" and adopting her own fashion vocabulary which are great. Some of her favorite words include, "kills it," "I die," "shut it down,"loves it" and "bananas."
If you haven't checked out her website you should! It has wonderful fashion tips and she updates her page everyday:)http://www.rachelzoe.com/

One of Rachel's favorite jewelry trends for Fall is the chain necklace which she describes as "insanity." She suggests wearing the necklace the normal way in front of twisting it around so that the chain falls against your back, giving the illusion of a choker in the front. This necklace was designed by Giuseppe Zanotti but you can find more affordable pieces at places like Nordstrom or Guess.

Saturday

Fall Into Fashion

Can you believe it's already the middle of August?? Seriously, where has the summer gone!? As Ryan and I were driving around today we noticed that all the elementary schools will be starting this Monday and I am in shock that the school year is already beginning.
It's kind of silly that I am talking about Fall fashion because we all know that San Diego doesn't really have seasons but I'm kind of obsessed with Fall fashion, it's my favorite! I love jackets, boots and sweaters...they're cozy and comfy and it's in the layers. For us San Diegans we often don't get the opportunity to get much use of our winter jackets but we can do some lightweight layering so that we can warm up when it's cool and strip down as it warms throughout the day. Jenna Lyons the President and Executive Creative Director of J Crew just sent out her Fall Lookbooks which are great! Her vision for this fall is "Girl Scout Military Inspired." Think earthy colors, camping, with a feminine twist. "There's a bit of that grandma-chic that we always draw from. There are elements borrowed from the boys, but we decided that she's at Girl Scout camp." As I was looking through the Lookbook I couldn't help thinking that it looked Hobo Chic...which is a nice way of saying sophisticated homeless. The model's long hair is very messy featured mostly in fishbraids or knotted side buns. The girls wear gray and black tights, plaid shirts and boots in the Lookbook. Jenna suggests wearing earthy muted colors-especially olives and browns with "punctuations" of bright color such as Funny Face bright pink lipstick by NARS. I love Fall and am looking forward to this type of fashion- seems low maintenance and comfy...can't beat that!
